A Brief Synopsis of Dr. Fox's Credentials
Dr. Fox graduated from Rutgers University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then went to the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey/New Jersey Medical School where he received his MD degree in 1983. Dr. Fox then did a surgical internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1984. Between 1985-1988, Dr. Fox did his orthopedic residency in New York City in the Bronx at the Albert Einstein Affiliated Medical School Hospitals-Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center. He also spent 1 year at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan, an affiliate of NYU. Between 1988-1989, Dr. Fox did a fellowship at the University of Florida. The fellowship was an upper extremity fellowship, and he was also an Assistant Team Physician for the University of Florida Gators.
Dr. Daniel Fox is a Board Certified Attending Orthopedic Surgeon at Community Medical Center in Toms River. He became Board Certified in 1992 and was re-certified in 2003. Dr. Fox has been in private practice in Toms River since 1989 and also has a satellite office in Marlboro, New Jersey. Dr. Fox is currently the Chairman for the Department of Orthopedics at Community Medical Center for 2005- 2006. During this time, the Orthopedic Department was recognized nationally as one of the top Orthopedic Departments and received the National Health Grades Award.
He is both a Fellow of The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and The American College of Surgeons. He is also a Fellow in The American College of Sports Medicine and The Arthroscopy Association of North America. He was also a Fellow at the Institute for Preventive Sports Medicine and was a member of the Dover Township Board of Health. He is a member of the Eastern Orthopedic Society, the New Jersey Medical Society, the American Medical Association (AMA), the New Jersey Orthopedic Society, and the Academy of Medicine of New Jersey. In addition, he was a member of the Lake Placid Sports Medicine Society for the Winter Olympics.
He also served as the Dover Township Police Orthopedic Surgeon. He is certified in laser surgery and endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery. Dr. Fox has been involved in orthopedics and sports medicine for years and has performed research in the field. He appeared on CNN in 1989 performing wrist arthroscopic surgery. On March 14, 1997, Dr. Fox was interviewed and appeared on WCBS News Radio 88 where he discussed President Clinton’s knee injury and surgery and also appeared in the Ocean County Observer and Asbury Park Press on numerous occasions.
Dr. Fox was also the Sports Medicine Director for the Ocean County Professional Sports Care from 1993 to 1996, which was a sports medicine and therapy entity started by the New York Giants Team Physician and Trainer.
Dr. Fox has been the Team Physician for South Jersey for the 1996 and 1997 New Jersey State Allstar Games held at Rutgers University and The College of New Jersey, respectively. Dr. Fox was one of the major sponsors for the Asbury Park Ocean-Monmouth All Shore Football Classic held in 1997 at Brick High School. Dr. Fox also had the honor of being the sponsor and guest speaker at the 1997 1st Annual Shore Conference Football Coaches Association Banquet in Eatontown, New Jersey. He was also honored in 1997 by Community Medical Center’s Board of Trustees and Senior Management for Patient Satisfaction. He was named one of the 10 Outstanding Citizens in New Jersey in 1994 by the N.J. Jaycees.
Dr. Fox was elected in 1998 to the Medical Expert Advisory Panel for the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners.
In 2002 through 2003, Dr. Fox was named as one of America’s top surgeons in the Guide to America’s Top Surgeons for orthopedic surgery. He has been the Head Team Physician for the New York/New Jersey Governor’s Bowl Classic for the past 9 years, and, in 2000, was elected to be the Official Team Doctor for the National High School Football Allstar Classic held in Dallas, Texas, and nationally televised. In 2005, Dr. Fox was named Official Team Physician for the Professional Indoor Arena Football Team, the New Jersey X-treme, playing their games at Continental Airlines Arena. He has worked for many years with high school, college and professional athletes. Finally, while being in Ocean County, Dr. Fox has performed numerous total joint replacements and has given lectures on this to the senior citizens, including being on local cable television discussing orthopedics.
